10:42:54 CET I had a challenging night, to say the least. J came home late (at least for an old person like me) disturbing my beauty sleep . Then, and much worse, some stomach bug kept me seated in the bathroom until the early hours of the morning. Luck me; the magic cure called COFFEE exists !
14:36:37 CET One of my rambling "reflections" posts... I was thinking; as we grow up, the more considerations we need to include in the planning that we do. Your kids grow up and start having their own plans that we need to consider. Next, family and friends must also be included in the equation. Finally, the external factors like work, budget and, oh yes, we have this small pandemic thing happening that complicate things.
By coincidence, I mentioned our "holiday dilemma" in an earlier post; planning a decent holiday combining relaxed us-time and visiting family (much overdue) in Sweden. And this needs to happen during the limited window of time we have every year.
Recently we started feeling like the more we look into it, the more complicated it got. It was piling up and something that used to be an exciting thing to do turned into a struggle. BUT just because it's difficult at times doesn't mean it should keep us away from doing it. Not at all! Just the opposite, in fact. I have to consider these inconveniences as luxury problems. My family and I are healthy, a wonderful home, we have an amazing son and family worth the "struggle". That's the lesson learned and what we have to remind ourselves of when it gets tough!
We hear of many people who take the easy way out in these crazy times and refuse the extra effort. They react utterly egoistic and prioritise themselves and their made-up needs before anything else. Even their kids.
I can only agree with how a friend concluded this morning "I have lost my faith in humanity". It sounds overdramatic, but on a certain level, it's absolutely true.
